I love clothes. I LOVE clothes. With the passion of 1000 suns #poetic
The year I turned 30, I also fell pregnant with Matilda. So my how do I dress for this new decade also had the added how do I dress as a mum?
I think this is something most women have grappled with. What’s my style? What pieces say ‘me’? Am I a Carrie or a Charlotte? A Jackie or a Marilyn? Tough times, guys..
I was a child of the 90s. We used to buy old man pants from op shop’s, sew inserts into them to create flares and wear petticoats and slip dresses over the top. When I reached my 20s I went through a range of different looks. The boho dresses, skirts and ankle jewellery, the emo striped arm warmers and vintage tees, the nighties as dresses (😨😨😨), the not very much at all.. Some things were fabulous, some things were best left behind (note to self, playsuits only look good on my 2 year old).
One thing is for sure though, all of this has definitely propelled me towards the look I have today. I would like to tell you I am an x, y, z but truth be told – I don’t really follow a particular style other than Carole. I love bright colour and bold pattern, I love layers and statement accessories, I love coloured sneakers and 1950s dresses. I’m seldom in heels anymore but you will have to pry my cardigans and converse out of my cold, dead hands. I adore both vintage and contemporary fashion and am equally thrilled to be in Trelise Cooper as I am to be in my fave Sallies store. As I get older and wiser (hardy har) I am more about what makes me feel fabulous than sticking to a trend. Shout out to my soul sister Monique at Dressing Up for her inspo in this journey.
